Randall Lee, MD, PhD

University of San Francisco School of Medicine

Dr. Lee is a Cardiologist and a Cardiac Electrophysiologist who specializes in complex catheter ablation for cardiac arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardias. He has developed new hybrid epicardial/endocardial procedures that have demonstrated improved efficacy in persistent atrial fibrillation patients who have previously failed catheter ablation. His seminal work with left atrial appendage exclusion devices has led to non-pharmacological options for stroke prevention in high-risk atrial fibrillation patients.

In addition to the development of devices and techniques for monitoring of arrhythmias, treatment of arrhythmias and embolic stroke prevention, Dr. Lee has an active cardiac tissue engineering laboratory for myocardial repair/reconstruction. His research focuses on cellular and molecular aspects of cardiac arrhythmias and vascular regeneration, as well as in situ tissue engineering approaches for the treatment of heart failure and arrhythmias.
